Wedding Ceremony
Question: This will be my first time at a Sikh Gurdwara, what should I expect?

Question: Do I have to wear Indian clothing to the Sikh Gurdwara?
Answer: Guests are welcome to wear Indian clothing, however it is not a requirement. Should you choose to wear Indian clothing, women can wear “salwar kameez” or saris while men can wear an Indian “kurta". Otherwise, clean, modest, Western clothing is perfectly fine, please dress as you would in any house of worship.
Question: In the video above, I noticed head coverings will be required. What kind of head coverings do I need to bring?
Answer: Women will generally bring their own head coverings, referred to as a “dupatta” while men will most often wear one of the provided head coverings at the Sikh Gurdwara.
Question: What is “Anand Karaj"?”
Answer: “Anand Karaj” is simply the name for the wedding ceremony in Sikh culture and loosely translates to “Blissful Union.” For a translation of the four prayers, referred to as “Laavan” please Click Here.
Question: I noticed there will be a “Langar” or communal lunch after the Anand Karaj. What is the significance of this?

Garden Party
Question: Will there be a set schedule for the garden party?
Answer: The party is intended to be a laid-back celebration. Guests are welcome to come anytime between 3:00 PM and 12:00 AM and stay for as long as you would like. We will have food, drinks, and dancing.
Question: What is the dress attire for the garden party?
Answer: Relaxed, comfortable, come as you are.
